The biggest iPhone Duo deals are real but narrow. As of Oct 16, 2026, the big carrier credits need a plan that costs $85 to $100 or more a month, kept while the credits run (up to 36 months), plus a newer trade-in phone; AT&T’s 55+ plans are excluded, T-Mobile’s 55+ offer tops out lower at up to $800, and Verizon’s Duo deal shows up only in Apple’s store, not on Verizon’s own page. Buy outright or with Apple Card installments and you own the phone; the lease and the carrier credits come with strings.
Deals as read October 16, 2026. We read AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon and Xfinity Mobile on each one’s own site as pre-order opened, about 5:00 a.m. Pacific. We read Apple’s store at about 5:13 a.m., once its pre-order queue cleared; Apple’s per-model trade-in values are as of October 14. "Up to" means a ceiling, not a promise. Pre-order steps and the up-front sales tax are in our iPhone Duo pre-order checklist.
iPhone Duo Deals Side by Side: Eight Ways to Pay
Every row is a way to pay for the same 256GB Duo. Apple lists it at $1,999; the carriers list $1,999.99.
Gleemo isn’t a financial advisor. Carrier terms change often; read the offer details before you sign.

| T-Mobile | As of Oct 16, 2026: up to $1,000 needs a $100+ plan with AutoPay (Experience Beyond 2.0 for new members; Beyond 2.0, Beyond or Go5G Next for existing), a trade-in and a $35 connection charge | See next row | Up to 36 monthly bill credits | Cancel or pay off early and credits stop; balance due |

Through Apple’s store, new T-Mobile customers on 55+ plans are excluded | Same as above | Same as above |
| Verizon | On Verizon’s own page, as of Oct 16, 2026: no Duo trade-in credit; $55.55 a month for 36 months at 0% APR, or $72.22 with Simplicity Pro. | Xfinity Mobile | As of Oct 16, 2026: "up to $1,000" needs a new Mobile Plus line, a qualifying trade-in, a device payment plan and Xfinity Internet | Not stated | Credit months not read | Not read |
Note: All rows were read October 16, 2026, except the 12-month lease price, Apple’s per-model trade-in values and Verizon’s 55+ rule (October 14). Plan prices, tax and fees are extra. Carriers can change offers at any time.

Offers for switching carriers have their own terms, which we haven’t covered. Read each carrier yourself: Apple, AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, Xfinity Mobile.
Who Actually Gets the Big iPhone Duo Credit
The headline needs the right plan, a trade-in on the carrier’s list and a plan that isn’t excluded. Miss one and you land in a smaller tier.
AT&T, as of Oct 16, 2026:
- Up to $1,200: Premium 2.0 or higher ($100 a month or more plus taxes and fees, before discounts, single line) or select retired or legacy unlimited plans, plus a trade-in worth $230 or more.
- Up to $930: Extra 2.0 or higher ($80 a month or more) plus a trade-in worth $130 or more.
- Smaller: up to $500 on Value 2.0 with a $130+ trade-in; up to $350 on any eligible unlimited plan with a $35 to $129 trade-in.
- The $230+ list: iPhone 14 Pro Max, the 15 and 16 families, Air, 17, 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max. The $130+ list also includes the iPhone 14, 14 Plus, 14 Pro and 17e.
So a plain iPhone 14 misses the $1,200 tier but reaches $930 on Extra 2.0. AT&T adds: "Credits may vary by trade-in and wireless plan combination and may be less."
T-Mobile on its own site, as of Oct 16, 2026 (the top tier needs a $100+ plan with AutoPay, plus taxes and fees):
- Up to $1,000: includes the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, the 16 family, 16e, the 17 family and Air.
- Up to $730: includes the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max, the 14 family, 15 and 15 Plus.
- Up to $500: includes the iPhone 13, 12, 11 and older.
- 55+ version: T-Mobile’s examples are up to $800 for an iPhone 16 and up to $600 for an iPhone 14.
Verizon, through Apple’s store only, as of Oct 16, 2026 (the higher or lower figure depends on your trade-in’s model):
- Existing customers: Unlimited Ultimate ($95+ a month with AutoPay) up to $840 or $420; Unlimited Plus ($80+) up to $660 or $330; Unlimited Welcome ($65+) up to $300 or $150.
- New line or added line: Unlimited Ultimate up to $1,000 or $500; Unlimited Plus up to $840 or $420; Unlimited Welcome up to $480 or $240.
- How it’s paid: part as Apple’s instant trade-in credit at checkout, the rest as Verizon bill credits over 36 months. You must stay in Verizon’s Device Payment Program for 36 months to get them all.

55+ Plans and the iPhone Duo: AT&T Excludes Them, T-Mobile Pays Less
AT&T: not eligible. AT&T’s offer details say: "AT&T 55+, Value Plus, Value Plus VL, and Value Plus Unlimited plans are not eligible" (as of Oct 16, 2026). On a 55+ plan, check the fine print before counting on a trade-in credit.
T-Mobile: up to $800, new members included. T-Mobile’s Duo page lists "Get up to $800 off with any condition trade-in on an Experience Beyond plan w/ 55+, Military, First Responder or Student Savings" (as of Oct 16, 2026). New members need Experience Beyond 2.0 with 55+ Savings; existing members can also use Beyond or legacy Go5G Next with 55+ Savings. The plan must cost $85 or more a month with AutoPay, plus taxes and fees. Without 55+ Savings the same phones get up to $1,000 (iPhone 16) and up to $730 (iPhone 14), as of Oct 16, 2026.
Where you buy matters for new T-Mobile customers. The T-Mobile Duo deal in Apple’s store lists new customers’ credits "excluding all 55+, Military, First Responder plans" (as of Oct 16, 2026). So for a new T-Mobile customer on a 55+ plan, the credit appears only in T-Mobile’s own offer.
Verizon: Florida only. As of Oct 14, Verizon’s 55+ discount ($20 a month off one line, $30 off two, on Unlimited Welcome) is for Florida residents. Elsewhere, 55+ plans can’t be added to an account, though a legacy one can be kept. Verizon’s own Duo page showed no trade-in credit on October 16; its Duo deal is listed in Apple’s store (see above).
Apple Trade-In vs Carrier Credit: One Payment or Up to 36 Months
Apple’s "up to" trade-in values, as of Oct 14: iPhone 13, $175. iPhone 14, $195. iPhone 15, $305. iPhone 16, $430. iPhone 17, $585. iPhone 17 Pro Max, $885.
- Apple: a one-time credit, no plan required. The condition must match what you told Apple, or the difference is charged. Pay in full and the credit comes back after Apple verifies the phone, generally 2 to 3 weeks; pay monthly and it comes off the price up front.
- Carriers: bigger numbers, paid as monthly bill credits tied to your plan. AT&T’s trade-in can’t be on an existing installment plan.
For an iPhone 14: up to $195 once from Apple (as of Oct 14), against up to $730 from T-Mobile ($600 with 55+ Savings) or up to $930 from AT&T on Extra 2.0 (as of Oct 16, 2026). The carrier credit is larger, but it ties you to a plan of $80 to $100+ a month while the credits run, up to 36 months.
Worked Examples: What the iPhone Duo Costs After Credits
Example, terms as read Oct 16, 2026; tax not included. 256GB Duo at $1,999.99 over 36 months. Device cost only: plan prices and the $35 fee are extra, and a carrier’s own page may differ by a cent. In every credit example, canceling or paying off early stops the credits.
- AT&T, iPhone 15 trade-in: up to $1,200 is $33.33 a month in credits. AT&T’s own page says "as low as $22.23/mo." Needs a plan of $100+ a month before discounts, single line, for all 36 months.
- AT&T, iPhone 14: up to $930 is $25.83 a month in credits, about $29.72 a month. Needs a plan of $80+ a month before discounts for all 36 months.
- T-Mobile, iPhone 14, Experience Beyond 2.0: up to $730 is $20.28 a month in credits, about $35.28 a month. Needs a $100+ plan with AutoPay for all 36 months.
- T-Mobile, iPhone 14, with 55+ Savings: up to $600 is $16.67 a month in credits, about $38.89 a month. Needs an $85+ plan with AutoPay for all 36 months. (An iPhone 16 trade-in on the same plan is up to $800: $22.22 a month in credits, about $33.33 a month.)
- T-Mobile’s page headline: $27.78 a month for 36 months, labelled "Pricing when you choose Experience Beyond plan," plus up to $35 device connection charge.
- Verizon’s own page: no trade-in credit shown. $55.55 a month for 36 months at 0% APR, or $72.22 with Simplicity Pro: the $55.55 payment plus $50.00 for Simplicity Pro, minus a $33.33 Simplicity Pro device credit. The figure shows no plan price.
- Verizon through Apple, existing customer, Unlimited Ultimate: up to $840, part at checkout from Apple and part as bill credits over 36 months. Needs a $95+ plan with AutoPay for all 36 months.
Apple, no plan needed (price and installments as of Oct 16; trade-in value as of Oct 14):
- Pay in full, iPhone 14 trade-in: $1,999 minus up to $195 is $1,804 before tax, once. You own it.
- Apple Card installments: $83.29 a month for 24 months, then you own it.
- Apple Upgrade lease: $57.99 a month for 24 months is $1,391.76, and you still don’t own it. Buying it out costs the list price minus payments made, $607.24, plus tax.
Fine-Print Traps Before You Sign
- Carrier credits arrive monthly. AT&T’s start within 3 bills; T-Mobile says allow 2 bill cycles. You finance the full price first. (Deals bought in Apple’s store pay part at checkout as an Apple trade-in credit.)
- Leaving or paying off ends them. Cancel AT&T service or your entire T-Mobile account and the credits stop and the balance is due. T-Mobile’s end if you pay off early; AT&T says lowering your plan can stop or reduce credits, and early payoff or an upgrade may stop them.
- $35 fees and tax up front (as of Oct 16, 2026). AT&T charges a $35 activation or upgrade fee per line and tax on the full retail price at sale. T-Mobile charges a $35 device connection charge and tax on the pre-credit price. Verizon’s page says it wiped out activation fees for new customers.
- Trade-in deadlines. AT&T (as of Oct 16, 2026): within 30 days of the installment plan starting (online, from shipment). Apple: within 14 days after you receive the new phone (as of Oct 14).
- Condition matters differently. T-Mobile’s own offer asks for "an eligible device in any condition" (as of Oct 16, 2026). Apple’s trade-in value depends on the condition you report, and a mismatch is charged (as of Oct 14).
- Carrier-financed means carrier-locked until paid in full, per Apple (as of Oct 14).
- A lease is not ownership. Apple Upgrade is run by Klarna and is "not a purchase or loan."
- Apple’s store and the carrier’s site can differ. On October 16 the T-Mobile deal in Apple’s store excluded new customers on 55+ plans while T-Mobile’s own offer included them, and Verizon’s Duo deal appeared only in Apple’s store. Compare both before you order.
- "Well-qualified" customers. AT&T’s $0 down and Verizon’s payment figures are for them; AT&T says others may need a down payment.
There’s No Single Best Way to Buy the iPhone Duo: What Each Gives Up
- Own it, keep your plan: pay in full or use Apple Card installments. Trade-off: Apple’s smaller trade-in value, since the carrier credits are tied to the carrier’s own financing.
- Plan already $100 a month or more (as of Oct 16, 2026), phone on the list: an AT&T or T-Mobile credit lowers the monthly device cost. Trade-off: it’s spread over up to 36 months and stops if you leave, pay off early or move to a cheaper plan.
- On a 55+ plan: T-Mobile has an up-to-$800 offer; AT&T excludes its 55+ plans (as of Oct 16, 2026). Trade-off: it’s below the non-55+ top credit and needs an $85+ plan.
- Lowest payment, no need to own: the lease, from $57.99 a month. Trade-off: you own nothing, leaving early costs every remaining payment plus tax, and AppleCare isn’t included.
- On Verizon: the Duo credit is in Apple’s store, on Unlimited plans of $65 to $95+ a month, kept for 36 months; Verizon’s own page showed none October 16. Simplicity Pro’s Flex Upgrade allows an upgrade up to twice in any rolling 12 months after at least one monthly subscription payment.
- Buying for a parent: Apple Card installments need the buyer’s own approved Apple Card; the lease needs the buyer’s own Klarna account and an SSN or ITIN. A carrier credit is tied to the plan it’s applied to, so check which plan.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do 55+ plans get the iPhone Duo trade-in credit?
It depends. AT&T: no, its 55+ plans "are not eligible." T-Mobile: yes, up to $800 on Experience Beyond 2.0 with 55+ Savings, on an $85+ plan with AutoPay, new members included. Through Apple’s store, new T-Mobile customers on 55+ plans are excluded. Verizon’s Duo deal is in Apple’s store and its 55+ plan is Florida-only (as of Oct 14). Carrier figures as of Oct 16, 2026.
Is the iPhone Duo free with trade-in?
Nothing we read on October 16 made the 256GB Duo free. AT&T’s lowest figure is "as low as $22.23/mo" after up to $1,200 in credits over 36 months, which needs Premium 2.0 or higher at $100+ a month and a $230+ trade-in (as of Oct 16, 2026). Tax and a $35 fee are extra.
Should I trade in with Apple or my carrier?
It’s a trade-off. Apple’s credit is one-time, needs no plan and is small: up to $195 for an iPhone 14 (as of Oct 14). Carrier credits are larger but arrive over up to 36 months on a plan you must keep, and stop if you leave or pay off early.
Is Apple Upgrade a lease?
Yes. Klarna runs it, and Apple calls it "not a purchase or loan." You don’t own the phone, and leaving early means paying every remaining payment plus tax (as of Oct 14).
Are these facts current?
Facts as of October 16, 2026; carriers can change offers at any time. Apple’s per-model trade-in values are as of October 14.
