Is there an Epic Pass senior discount? Not on the Epic Pass, Epic Local Pass or Epic Day Pass, and not on the Ikon Pass. But 12 other Epic passes list a senior price, and some resorts sell their own senior passes.
Maybe you are 66 and ski ten days a winter. Or your dad turns 70 this winter and wants a pass. Here is what the pass sellers’ pages say, what 14 resorts charge, and when prices change. We read each pass seller’s and resort’s own page on October 8, 2026.

The Short Answer: No Senior Price on the Big Passes, Real Ones at Resorts
- Epic: No senior category on the Epic Pass, Epic Local Pass or Epic Day Pass. Twelve other Epic passes have one, at 62, 65 or 70.
- Ikon: No senior category on the Ikon Pass, Ikon Base Pass or Session Passes. Ikon-partner resorts’ own senior passes are not Ikon Passes.
- Resorts: In the 14 we read, senior prices start between ages 60 and 70.
- Call your home hill first. Five questions are below.
- Check the next price step. Epic’s next step is not posted on pages we could read.
Prices change on set dates. We read every price on the resort’s or pass seller’s own page on the date shown; check that page before you buy.

We could not open Epic’s individual pass pages. We did not read Tahoe Local, Keystone Plus, Summit Value or Wilmot; they are not listed on Epic’s Senior Passes page, so check them. Epic can add, drop or reprice a pass, and that page is its live list.
Ikon Pass Senior Discount: None, but Some Ikon Resorts Sell Their Own
Ikon’s own product data lists four age categories on the Ikon Pass, Ikon Base Pass and Ikon Session Passes: Adult (Age 23+), Young Adult (Ages 13-22), Child (Ages 5-12) and 4 and Under (Ages 0-4). None is senior. Adult prices were $1,449 for the Ikon Pass and $1,019 for the Ikon Base Pass when we read Ikon’s data again just after midnight Pacific on October 9.
Ikon’s pass cards had read "Price increases after October 8," but the prices had not changed when we read them again on October 9. Check ikonpass.com before you buy. Ikon’s discounts page covers college, military and nurse discounts, not seniors.
Some Ikon-partner resorts sell their own senior passes. An Alta, Sugarbush or Deer Valley senior pass is not an Ikon Pass.

We read each resort’s own page on October 8, 2026. No price came from a deal list or a reseller.
Where Senior Prices Start: 65 at Ten of 14 Resorts
The lowest age at which each of the 14 resorts starts a senior price is 60 at one (Spring Mountain), 65 at ten, and 70 at three (Loveland, Beaver Mountain and Sugar Mountain). None starts at 62, 75 or 80.
At 60 to 64 the choice is thin: Spring Mountain, plus two Epic Midwest passes at 62 (Afton Alps and Mt Brighton). Deeper tiers come later: as read October 8, Bolton Valley’s pass is $509 at 65-74 and $59 at 75+.

Resorts Count Your Age Differently
Here is what each page says:
- Mad River Glen: "All ages as of January 1st, 2027."
- Bolton Valley: "Passholder age is determined by age on 12/1/26."
- Alta: "Must turn 65 within the calendar year to qualify." A season spans two calendar years; the page does not say which.
- Loveland: "Must be 70 at time of purchase."
- Beaver Mountain and Taos: "the pass holder’s age at the time of purchase" and "the passholder’s age on date of purchase."
Epic’s terms say certain season passes "may be subject to age verification." Under Mad River Glen’s rule, someone who turns 70 on February 1, 2027 is still 69 on January 1, 2027.
Free Over 70, at 75 or at 80: Six Places, Six Rules
Prices as read on October 8, 2026:
- Spring Mountain (PA): The "Over 70" day ticket is free.
- Brian Head (UT): The Super Senior Pass (75+) is "100% free skiing and snowboarding at all 10 Power Pass mountains." Call to confirm which pass applies at 75.
- Taos (NM): "Free 80+ and 6 & under season passes are available on Opening Day," at the Lake Fork Ticket Office. ID required.
- Schweitzer (ID): "Seniors over 80 & Kids under 4 ski free," at any ticket window.
- Alta (UT): "Anyone aged 80-plus can ski for free at Alta," with ID at a ticket window, or buy a $50 pass.
- Mad River Glen (VT): The 80+ pass is free for Co-op shareholders; everyone else pays $159.

Pass or Day Tickets? The Break-Even Math
Divide the senior pass price by the same resort’s senior day-ticket price, and round up to whole days. Prices as read on October 8, 2026.
- Spring Mountain (PA): The $380 pass (price through October 31) against a Senior Ticket 60+ at $33 on weekdays or $43 on weekends and holidays: 12 weekdays or 9 weekend days.
- Loveland (CO): The $229 pass (70+) against the $109 Senior (60+) window ticket in the regular season (December 14, 2026 to April 4, 2027): 3 days. The ticket discount starts at 60, the pass discount at 70.
- Mad River Glen (VT): The Legend Pass (70-79) at $359 against the $100 senior full-day ticket: 4 days. The Senior pass (65-69) at $869: 9 days. The page does not say whether the $100 is the online or window price.
What Changes Next: The Price-Step Dates
Dates as each page gave them on October 8, 2026:
- Epic: Vail’s September 29 release said "Pass prices go up after October 7." The next step is not posted on any page we could read. epicpass.com’s page data lists December 6, 2026 as the off-sale date, a setting rather than a notice, so treat it as expected.
- Ikon: "Price increases after October 8." The prices had not changed when we read them just after midnight Pacific on October 9. No next step or 2026 off-sale date on what we read.
- Deer Valley: Its page banner said "before prices go up on October 9." The senior and adult prices had not changed when we read the page just after midnight Pacific that day.
- October 16, Sugar Mountain: Adult $882 until 4 pm, then $974 until November 30, 4 pm, then $1,312.
- October 31, Blue Knob and Spring Mountain: Blue Knob’s prices run through October 31. Spring Mountain’s senior pass is $380 until then, $425 from November 1 (adult $435, then $510).
- November 26, Cannon Mountain: Cannon Only senior $579 and adult $899 run through then. The next window, through January 31, is $679 and $999.
- November 30, Beaver Mountain: The adult price is valid through then.
- December 4, Aspen Snowmass: Early pricing ends.
- December 5, Loveland: Pricing is valid through 11:59 PM.
Snowbasin, Alta, Mad River Glen, Bolton Valley, Sugarbush and Brian Head gave no upcoming date.
Call Your Home Hill First: 5 Questions
A call costs nothing, and some resorts have dropped senior passes. Ask:
- Do you sell a senior season pass?
- At what age does it start, how do you count my age, and what ID do I bring?
- What does it leave out, such as blackout dates or weekends?
- When does the price go up next?
- At what age do I ski free?

Epic hill? See Epic’s Senior Passes page
For Sons and Daughters: Helping a Parent With a Pass
- Compare the tables and age rules together, then ask which price applies.
- Split the cost, if you both want to.
- Know whose pass it is. Ikon says passes "will only be issued to the person whose name is on the pass with a valid I.D." Epic’s terms say season passes are non-transferable and may not be resold unless Vail Resorts says otherwise in writing. The pages we read do not say whether you can buy one in a parent’s name, so ask the pass office first, and buy from the pass company or the resort.
- Flying to the mountains? See which airlines still offer a senior discount.
Gear You Might Not Own Yet
Start with gear you already own, and ask your home hill whether it rents goggles. If you need more, we opened three Amazon listings on October 8, 2026. The socks and base layer are men’s listings. Check the current price on Amazon.
- Goggles: The SMITH Reason OTG snow goggles. The listing says they are "Over-the-Glasses (OTG) Compatible." Smith says they are designed with "larger face shapes in mind" and sells a Low Bridge Fit version. The listing gives no maximum glasses-frame size. Smith’s own store showed many variants sold out on October 8.
- Socks: The Smartwool Men’s Ski Targeted Cushion Over the Calf socks. The listing gives 57% merino wool, 40% nylon and 3% elastane. "Targeted Cushion" means cushioning in zones, not full cushion.
- Base layer: The Smartwool Men’s Classic Thermal Merino Base Layer Crew. Smartwool’s own page says "Midweight: 250g/m2" and "Made with 100% Merino wool." It is a slim fit, so check the sizing.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Epic Pass have a senior discount?
Not the Epic Pass, Epic Local Pass or Epic Day Pass. Twelve other Epic passes do.
Does the Ikon Pass have a senior discount?
No. Ikon-partner resorts’ own senior passes are not Ikon Passes.
At what age do seniors ski free?
It depends on the hill: 80+ at Taos, Schweitzer and Alta, 75+ at Brian Head, and over 70 for Spring Mountain’s day ticket.
When do ski pass prices go up?
Epic’s last step came after October 7 and Ikon’s after October 8. Neither next step is posted on what we read.
Is a resort senior pass cheaper than an Epic Local or Ikon Base pass?
Often, but access differs. Epic Local’s adult price was $849 on October 8. Seven senior prices in our table are higher: Snowbasin Premier, Alta, Brian Head Power Pass, Deer Valley, both Aspen passes and Mad River Glen’s 65-69 pass. Against Ikon Base’s adult $1,019 (read October 9), Alta, Aspen and Deer Valley cost more and Snowbasin Premier matches it.
Before you buy any pass, call your home hill’s pass office and ask the five questions on the card. Then check the date of its next price step. Want another sport to take up or keep playing after 60?
